Backyard fun

Matt and I have been working every weekend fixing up our back yard. We are trying to get it ready for Mason's birthday party on July 11th. It is looking great. Silly me did not take any "before" pics but when we are done I'll post some "after" pics. I've been working on a large rock walled section around a huge tree in the middle of the yard that was awkward and took up too much room. So now I've split the area in two, rebuilt two fantastic rock walls and put in some steps. Matt has done some great cosmetic work around the sides of the yard and in front of the house. We have a large variety of some really interesting plants and trees on our property.

Of course we are doing all this work and it will probably rain for the party.

Learning to use his hands

Mason is discovering how to use his hands to color. I think we will have a little artist soon enough. Here is his most recent creation. I helped with the cactus to show him how.
He is also figuring out how to feed himself with a spoon. We have been working diligently on this for a little while now. Yesterday he ate almost the whole dinner by himself. Matt still had to hold the bowl, but Mason held the spoon, dipped it in the food and put it in his mouth all by himself. We are very proud.

Point Defiance Zoo

We took a family trip to the zoo down in Tacoma along with some friends (Micha, Tanya and 2 1/2 year old Riley). It really is a pretty nice zoo. Mason had a great time. His favorite things were the parakeets and otters. He just laughed and laughed while pounding on the glass at the otters. My favorite were the Walruses in the underwater viewing. I had Mason right up front against the glass while they swam right up to us over and over. Mason just watched wide eyed and with his mouth open. He started getting little scared when one came at us from the side and he wasn't ready for it. I wish I was able to get a photo but I did not have enough hands. It was a good day.

How sweet is baby Mason? Baby Mason is So Sweet!

Mason has started becoming more and more of a sweetheart.
He hugs us very tight and has started to pat us on the back while hugging.
He will give you a big open mouth kiss if you ask for one.
He will pick out a book and come sit in your lap so you can read it to him while he turns the pages.
He just melts my heart.
He is also quite the ham these days.
